VistaGlazz by Team CodeGazer

Update: New Thread

With VistaGlazz you can patch your Vista system files to use custom visual styles and modify your Aero msstyle to be transparent on maximized windows.

Important
We've tried hard to make the patch process as safe and robust as possible. Its always a good idea to create your own backup of:
- C:\windows\system32\ThemeUI.dll
- C:\windows\system32\UxTheme.dll
- C:\windows\system32\Shsvcs.dll
- C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles

This product is for Vista RTM versions only (supporting Aero).
Administrator rights are a must.

I hope it's not a problem that i post a 'bit' off topic question here,

- C:\windows\system32\ThemeUI.dll
- C:\windows\system32\UxTheme.dll
- C:\windows\system32\Shsvcs.dll

When the files are patched is it also possible to change the default (not aero) theme?
or is it only for the Aero enabled interface....??...

(like in xp only the colors of the 'classic' theme can be changed, is this the same for 'basic', i'm not running Vista so i don't have a clue)...

Be careful with this program.

Especially when enabling the features of it.

Download HilledSE for a good theme and good DLL's to replace.

CAUTION - this is a great program, just don't use it while you have the basic theme on (or when you can't access the aero one)

ADVICE: Please fix the Windows Media player maximized, in the next version

Yes you can use any other visual style after this using patch. But why you need a program when you can replace the system files manually?
Click here for Vista's hacked Uxtheme.dll and others.

I'm one of the creators of this program (Yvo van Beek). Thank you all for testing.
The latest version is 0.1.3.

If you have any problems/questions, let me know...

Panarchy, you had some serious problems with the application?

Well done Zyphrax. It'll be perfect when it won't require the administrator rights.

Thnx!

Sorry patching without administrator rights is not possible (at least I cant think of how :)). The application needs to take ownership of certain system files. The only user that can take ownership of such system files is an user of the administrators group.

Zyphrax you should remove the Maximized Glass MSStyles option so that others may distribute their own Vista MSStyles with your Uxtheme patcher.

Zyphrax you should remove the Maximized Glass MSStyles option so that others may distribute their own Vista MSStyles with your Uxtheme patcher.

When we created this application, we had three goals:
- Make it easy for people to patch their system, so that they can use any theme/style they like
- A lot of people complained about maximized glass not being transparent, so we added a small option to patch it
- Make this all possible by a touch of a button (patching for dummies)

If you want to distribute the patcher with a Msstyle, just tell people to do the first step :)

We've created a new (small) website.
You can find some more screenshots and other programs there:

NO  you are wrong. Zyphrx never do that because anybody could use uxthemepatcher without use Vista MSSTYLES patched

Release version 1.0 is available!

Download: Setup / Standalone
For more info, visit: http://www.codegazer.com

If you use the standalone version, always save it to disk first. .NET applications don't run to well from the browser's temp directory.

I like this patcher a lot, but I have one complaint: When windows are maximized, the window titlebar font defaults to white because Microsoft planned on the backdrop turning black. After using this patcher, a lightish desktop wallpaper will result in titlebar text being illegible when the window is maximized. It'd be better if the font stayed dark.

There's another setback, but I know there probably isn't a solution for it: When multiple windows are maximized at once, the titlebars of all windows overlap with transparency and it looks really weird.

I sort of see why Microsoft decided to do what they did now.
