Installing ATI cards can get frustrating. They just don't seem to want to work on the first try.
nVidia also supports overclocking with the coolbits registry hack.

Sooner or later we're gonna have to factor in HD performance as well, and I think that's an unknown atm.

currently ati is the fastest on the market, with the 2000 series... and they are almost doubling the speed of the 8800 nvidia series. but same can be said for the price.
i am going to side with nvidia. just for the fact that they have open source drivers and are not a pain to install on linux =P

its always been a race of the fastest...
