Well my friend has a problem with his GeForce 5200 FX video card. It seems like when he plays Counter-Strike, he has around 100 fps at first. After an hour or so, it suddenly drops to 20-30 fps. My friend said that there are no loud noises or any heating present in his computer when this fps drop occurs. He also mentions that on the Counter-Strike forums, people have said that this problem is never present in thier GeForce 5200 FX video card.

I've attached the dxdiag notepad file, that shows his full computer specs for further information.

Attached File  DxDiag.txt   40.64K   807 downloads
Short summary:

OS: Windows XP Pro
Processor: Intel Celeron 2.50 GHz
Memory: 1536 MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

Display Devices
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Chip type: GeForce FX 5200

Help would be appreciated from him.

It still looks like a heating problem. New Nvidia drivers can monitor the temp all time while playing the game. Ask him to use that utility.
