Stardock Tiles allows you to quickly view and manage your running applications by simply looking to the edge of your screen.
Tiles works by creating a side-bar on a user's display. At the top of the side-bar are labels for each page such as 'My Tiles' or 'Documents' or 'Apps'. Users can then drag and drop programs, documents, or website URLs onto Tiles. When the program is inactive, it appears as an icon. When it is active, it appears as a live preview tile. The look of Tiles can also be customized further with additional themes, background images, and more.

Windows 8 users can now easily customize the Start Screen based on the images available in the Personalize panel of the PC settings (previously known as Control Panel). Chris Flores, Director of Communications in Windows pointed out that you cannot use a photograph as a background of the Metro-style Start Screen for a reason that a photo will not stretch and scale as the user add more tiles and performs zooming in and out of the Start Screen. Instead of using a photo, you can choose from 8 different images or parallax backgrounds and 9 colors available as default where it will matches the shades and font colors on the entire UI.

Blackhole Exploit Kit (compromised website) is still the most effective attack vector for hackers to install malware on Windows based PC with 47.6 percent of all malware installs occurring in Q4 of 2011, according to AVG. Another 10.6 percent are tricked into downloading exploit code. Fake pharmacy sites are a popular attack method, seen in about 10.4 percent of all attacks. Fake antivirus scanners remain a popular malware injection method at 8.4 percent.

Microsoft explained how Windows 8 will support sensors which will sense items and environments automatically, in it's latest blog post. The ability to react to changes in ambient light, motion, human proximity, and location are becoming common and essential elements of the computing experience. Even something simple-like an ambient light sensor to adjust display brightness in a room with changing light is potentially a basic scenario for desktop PCs.

Janelle Poole, Microsoft's director of public relations, made the following statement in a CES Windows 8 presentation:
"We haven't talked about the release date and we generally don't. We are talking milestone to milestone, so for us right now we're talking about the next milestone being the Consumer Preview happening in late February."
Thurrott's theory is that maybe the developer preview (the September Build version) will be followed by a consumer preview (the beta) and finally the enterprise preview (the release candidate).

Microsoft has sold over 525 million copies of Windows 7 since its introduction in October 2009. The figure was made public in Microsoft's Q2 2012 earnings report. And as Microsoft continuous to improved Windows 8, they introduced the new file system, ReFS which stands for Resilient File System. The new file system was built in NTFS foundation and so compatibility will not be an issue. ReFS will be piloted on Windows Server 8.
